In short: an adult jumpsuit looks like pajamas when it is made of thin fleece, is baggy and has ears. For the city you need dense fabric that holds its shape, a silhouette that follows the figure and details: zippers, patches, cuffs. The shoes make the outfit: with chunky boots it looks bold, with sneakers sporty, with a coat it looks put-together.
How is a city jumpsuit different from a kigurumi or a onesie?
| City jumpsuit | Kigurumi / onesie | |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric | Brushed three-thread jersey, 330 gsm, holds its shape | Thin synthetic fleece, gets static |
| Silhouette | Hourglass on women, inverted triangle on men | A sack |
| Details | Chunky metal zippers, patches, embroidery, cuffs | Ears, prints, pockets like a toy |
| Where to wear | City, travel, café, home | Home |
5 ways to wear a jumpsuit in the city
- With sneakers and a cap for every day: errands, a walk, a coffee.
- With chunky boots, especially models with patches and metal like Harley or Race.
- With a long coat for a meeting or dinner. The jumpsuit becomes the base of the outfit.
- With a vest when it gets colder, down to −5 °C without a jacket.
- For travel: a train, a car, a flight. Nothing rides up or presses, and you arrive looking the same as when you left.
“Won't people stare?”
They will. Because you look interesting, not because something is wrong. Metal, chunky zippers and a one-piece silhouette turn a jumpsuit into an outfit that looks like you chose it on purpose. Anna, the founder of THE ONE, put it simply: she wants to be herself without looking sloppy.
How to choose a jumpsuit that doesn't look like pajamas
- Dense fabric. From about 300 gsm it holds its shape and doesn't sag at the knees.
- A silhouette that fits. The waist and shoulders should be readable, not lost in a sack.
- Details with character. Zippers, patches and embroidery make the difference between “for the sofa” and “for the street”.
- The right size. The fit is loose, but check height and weight in the size chart.
- Colour. If you are not sure, start with black, khaki or beige.
All models are in the warm jumpsuits collection. More about the fabric and fit is in the guide “Warm jumpsuit for adults”, and if you are choosing between a jumpsuit and a tracksuit, read our honest comparison.
